This Spotlight Goes to Our New VP of Member Engagement: Ben Stasium
What has motivated you to want to be a part of the sports industry?
Sports have provided me with so many friends and positive experiences. Concentrating my studies in the sports industry will allow me to create these opportunities and relationships for others.
What is your biggest dream?
I want to create more accessible golf for the sport as it continues to become a more inclusive and diverse sport. That could mean creating programs that promote accessibility, owning an affordable golf course, or anything in between.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
One of the best pieces of advice I have received is to make every experience count. Whether it’s your dream internship or listening to a speaker, it all adds up and you never know where you will be able to apply something you learned.
If you could describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be and why?
Passionate, kind, and easygoing. I work hard in my commitments, but I try to not get stressed about things to maintain a balanced headspace. I also try to give people the benefit of the doubt because you never know what someone is going through
What is one of your goals for GWSBA this semester?
I want to put together a successful trek for our members. Getting everyone engaged and excited about the trek is going to be an important part of maximizing the productivity of our members.
What do you enjoy most about GWSBA?
Everyone that I know involved with SBA pushes each other to be the best sports industry professional possible
How have your professional experiences impacted where you are today?
My professional experiences have taught me a lot about how to communicate with coworkers and customers. Those experiences also shaped the way I think about sports beyond a source of entertainment.
What is one thing we should absolutely know about you?
I’m all ears for any conversation, but if it involves Boston sports or golf, we’ll be talking for a while.
What is something you would tell your younger self right now?
I would tell myself to go out of my comfort zone more.
If you could meet one athlete in any sport, who would it be and why?
Tom Brady. He has provided me with so much joy. Tiger Woods is a close 2nd.
